Julian Treasure is a sought-after and top-rated international speaker. Collectively his five TED talks on various aspects of sound and communication have been viewed an estimated 18 million times.
Julian’s book Sound Business is the seminal work on creating intentional, effective business sound, now in its second edition and also published in Japanese. He has been widely featured as a sound and communication expert in the world’s media, including TIME Magazine; The Economist; The Times; TV and radio in the UK, US, Canada, Australia and Netherlands, as well as many international trade and business magazines and websites.

Julian is founder and chairman of The Sound Agency, a UK-based consultancy that asks and answers the question: “How does your brand sound?”. TSA helps clients such as Harrods, Nokia, BP, Marks & Spencer, Helm Bank (Colombia), Waldorf Astoria and many major shopping malls across Europe to grow their business by optimising the sounds they make. The agency specialises in creating effective and appropriate organic soundscapes for branded spaces.

Julian now draws on his 10 years of experience in optimising sound for brands to deliver memorable and transformative keynotes and workshops on personal communication and sound branding. His topics include: the hidden effects of sound and noise on us all; how to improve your conscious listening; how to master powerful speaking (including public speaking); how to optimise sound for a brand or business; and how to design sound environments for health, productivity and better relationships.

Julian is a Liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Marketors and a member of the Marketing Society. His interests include music, sound, golf, technology, and Italy.

Phil Nedin

Global Healthcare Business Leader, Arup

Leads Arup’s global healthcare business. This role has taken him to many regions in the world to investigate best practice solutions in healthcare engineering. A chartered engineer and director at Arup, he has been with the company for more than 20 years. He’s currently based in the London office. His role involves capturing best practice solutions that can then be delivered to Arup’s clients through their local offices, in the areas concerning the procurement of health facilities e.g. PFI, the project bidding process, design good practice such as infection control, therapeutic environments or sustainability.

Prior to joining Arup, Phil worked for the National Health Service in a regional health authority design group in London.
Phil is a past President of the Institute of Healthcare Engineering and Estate Management (IHEEM) and currently serves on their international committee.

Phil Williams

Executive Director, Delos Living

Phil Williams is the Executive Director for Project Delivery with Delos Living. In this capacity he is responsible for the business development, sales, consulting and project management for Delos as related to Well Building Certification and Delos Solutions.
He has spent 35 years in the commercial design, engineering and construction industry most recently for the past 12 years as a Vice President with Webcor Builders where he initiated and lead the Sustainability, Engineering, and Consulting groups. He brings a comprehensive approach with experienced appreciation for the discipline of ownership and development, the nuance of design, the detail of engineering, the pace of construction and the dynamics of facilities and operations. Prior to Webcor he held senior management positions with Southland Industries and United Technologies Corporation (UTC).
He currently serves as the Industry Chair for the Center for the Built Environment (CBE) with the University of California Berkeley, is on the Executive Board of Eco-Districts, serves on the Joint Steer Committee for the Delos-Mayo Center for Innovation WELL Living Laboratory Collaborative and is a member of the Industry Technical Advisory Group for the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (LBNL) FLEXLAB.

Phil has an engineering degree from Washington State University, is a licensed Mechanical Engineer and a LEED AP.

Luc holds a Masters in energy from Ecole des Mines de Nantes in France. Since he joined IES, he provides technical assistance and support towards the design of low energy buildings. He has regularly been invited to speak as an expert speaker for workshops and seminars throughout North America and most recently throughout Europe.
He has over 10 years of experience in the building industry related to the design of mechanical systems and analysis through the use of computer simulations for sustainable design. He has conducted energy studies in a variety of climates and on a wide range of building sizes and types which vary from residential houses to university buildings. Applying his knowledge in building physics (heat transfer, thermodynamics and fluid dynamics), he assists the design team to achieve their low energy targets by primarily optimizing the passive performance of the design building.
His main areas of expertise are:

  • Passive systems and natural ventilation design and performance analysis using whole building simulations,
  • Occupant thermal comfort assessments,
  • Whole building energy simulations including LEED energy modeling,
  • Building energy consumption reduction and feasibility of energy conservation and sustainability measures.

Maciej Kiepal, a graduate of the Faculty of Wood Technology at Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW). For more than 20 years in the construction industry, in the course of his professional career familiarized himself with specificity of the investments market from the perspective of a company specialized in the supply of construction materials to building sites (the Warsaw branch of Interior Zachód – currently SIG), from the perspective of a company involved in the supply and installation of finishing materials (INSIDE), from the perspective of a producer of building materials (MEGARON), as well as from the perspective of the finishing materials manufacturer, offering support for all groups involved in the investment process (Armstrong Building Products, since 2000).

For the last four years in Armstrong Building Products Maciej has been dealing with the building of the team of Commercial and Technical Advisers as the Area Sales Manager – Poland.

Michał Piasecki, dr inż.

Researcher in ITB with 15 years’ experience in the field of building physics, sustainable construction and environmental protection. Chairman of the KT 307 in PKN (Sustainable Construction). He is a member and an expert of many organizations working for sustainable construction in the country and in Europe: Board Member of ECO Platform (Association of European Environmental Declarations Providers), represents Poland in the CEN TC 350 (Sustainable Development in Construction), was an expert in Sustainable Building Alliance SBA (Common metrics for sustainable building assessment) and participated in meetings of the OECD Green Growth, Eco-label at the European Commission. Member of the Scientific Committee of the International Conference “Sustainable Building” and national conference “Building and Ecology”. Elżbieta D. Ryńska, prof. dr hab. arch.

Professor at Faculty of Architecture, Warsaw University of Technology

Professor Ryńska has been working at the Faculty of Architecture since 1987. BREEAM International Assessor and BREEAM In-Use Auditor. Her main domain is the relationship between sustainability and architecture and urban planning. Professor Ryńska is the author of many books and publications in this area, such as: ‘Synergiczna triada. Architekt, Ekonomika i Środowisko’, ‘Zintegrowany proces projektowania prośrodowiskowego. Projektant a środowisko’, ‘Środowiskowy proces inwestycyjny dla architektów’ and many more.

Participation in international projects:

  • ‘Sustainable Redevelopment of Buildings in Poland’ SURE BUILD 2002-2005. Cooperation of Warsaw University of Technology and Norwegian University of Science and Technology.
  • ‘Thermomodernisation of public buildings conducted in accordance with the conditions of sustainable development – STEP’ 2009-2011. The project financed by a grant from the Norwegian Financial Mechanism no STEP – PL 0077.

Rafał Schurma

He earned the Master of Architecture degree and Master of Science in Civil Engineering degree on Silesian University of Technology, Gliwice, Poland. Currently he is a member of program committee and the lecturer at the Cracow Polytechnic in the faculty of Sustainable Architecture and Construction (Architektura i Budownictwo Zrównoważone).

Monika Starecka

Chief Operating Officer, EY

Chief Operating Officer at EY Poland, supervises marketing, human resources, finance and IT departments as well as administration and legal issues. Currently responsible for converting EY offices in accordance with the prevailing global trends, i.e. the Workplace of the Future project. Jaroslaw has 25-years’ design and site management experience in the building services industry gained in Poland and the UK. The projects he has been involved in include a wide variety of buildings such as shopping centres, office, industrial and residential buildings, as well as healthcare facilities in Poland, the UK, Luxembourg, Russia and Ukraine. At Arup Poland Jaroslaw has introduced dynamic thermal modelling of buildings which helps design more energy efficient and optimised buildings.
Currently, Jaroslaw is a design verifier and leads the team of LEED / BREEAM / low energy buildings consultants and energy modelling engineers.

Jerzy is an architect and expert in sustainable building, founder and director of JW_A, sustainability advisory and design firm, as well as lecturer at the Faculty of Architecture at Cracow Academy.
Jerzy holds LEED AP BD+C, BREEAM International Assessor and BREEAM In-Use Assessor credentials, is a licensed architect, member of Polish Chamber of Architects and Polish Green Building Council. He has studied at Cracow University of Technology, University of Manchester and University of Tennessee.
His experience includes over 20 delivered LEED and BREEAM certification projects, covering office, retail functions as well as commercial interiors for institutional clients and private investors in Poland, Ukraine and Romania.
Jerzy’s firm helps developers, building owners and tenants to implement sustainable building design and operations, achieve energy savings, enhance indoor environmental quality and mitigate negative impact on natural environment. Before founding JW_A Jerzy has worked for Colliers International Poland, Wizja and Gensler.

Kuba Strzyczkowski

Journalist of Polish Radio ‘Trójka’

Kuba has been working in Polish Radio since 1989. At the moment author and host of two radio shows. Each year he conducts auction of items donated by celebrities with all the earnings being donated to Family Orphanages. In 2003 Kuba received the Silver Cross of Merit and in 2008 was the laureate of Polish Speech Master and Golden Microphone of Polish Radio. In 2011 he was awarded with Krzysztof Dzierżawski’s award for promoting the idea of liberty.
In 2012, for his alone sail through the Atlantic, Kuba received an honorary distinction of Cruise of the Year.
